Aviomar Flight Academy offers an ENAC-approved Aviation English course. This course aims to prepare the candidates for the Language Proficiency Test and to improve their linguistic competencies which are both required to safely operate in international airspaces.
Our English teachers, who are native English speakers, regularly update and train in specific air operation topics and Aviation English.
We offer three different course types:
Basic English Course
This initial course is for those with a medium-low language proficiency level (ICAO Levels 2 and 3) aiming to enhance their basic English language skills. In this course, theory and exercises on grammar and vocabulary are treated at the beginner/intermediate level, including enhanced learning for reading, writing, conversation, and listening skills. The course comprises 80 hours of classroom learning, elevating the student to the required level for him/her to follow the specific “Aviation English” course.
Aviation English Course
The Aviation English course is conducted for candidates at ICAO level 3 language proficiency. The course trains the candidates mainly in aviation topics using the English language. The learning focuses on the communication between pilots, flight crews, and air traffic controllers, aiming to improve pronunciation, fluency, comprehension and vocabulary.
The course which is structured in 8 units focuses on a specific aspect of aviation and the relative English phraseology. Within each unit, the specific language used in normal operations and emergency situations is treated with examples of speakers of different nationalities and accents. This course has a duration of 60 hours.
Aviation English Seminar
The Aviation English Seminar is ideal for pilots who have a language proficiency level of ICAO 4 but wish to undergo the test with major preparation and improve their language skills on a higher level.
The course is structured in 3 units. Each unit analyses, verifies, and improves the comprehension, pronunciation, fluency, and capacity to correctly phrase a general and aviation-related context in English. It is conducted face-to-face in groups with a maximum of 8 students in one group. The seminar has a duration of 5 days (Monday to Friday).
Targeted Aviation English Training
Aviomar also organises one-to-one private lessons with teachers who are native English speakers. The lessons are personalised based on the actual necessities of the candidate. The courses are organised on an "hours package" basis.
